Call Center inside the Mall

By admin On September 9, 2008 4 Comments

Have you ever imagined working in a call center located inside a shopping mall? well, i did more than imagining, i actually worked in one. At first it was a bit strange for me and also to the people I know, (who can blame them? its not everyday that you see a call center inside the mall). It was actually fun and annoying at the same time.

First, it was annoying because you have to have two IDs with you for you to be able to come in, one is your company ID and the other one is your mall ID (yep, just like the one you see on the mall employees). Second, you have to go around the mall, thru the parking lot then the service elevator before you reach the office and lastly, cab drivers always though that i was kidding when I tell them that i was going to the mall at 12mn.

On the good side of things, a call center in the mall is nice because you get to be first in line during mall SALE, you also get to choose a lot of places to eat from before you go home, If you need to grab some groceries or you need to buy anything, you can do it after work without even going to another place and lastly, you can always catch the last full show on cinemas before coming to work. Also, for the call center itself, you are talking huge walk-in traffic of applicants

Too bad that center closed down. But, it was fun while it lasted

Inbound call centre

One thing that I for got was the Uk, they are spending close to the same as the AU.

If you are looking at lowering you bottom dollar by outsourcing to a Philippines call centre, its going to save you money and problems of trying to find good employees.

The biggest thing is saving money and time.

Call centre outsoucing

The Market is open for business in Australia for call centre business!

Why would you pay 18 AUD per hour when you could pay have of the by outsourcing it to a call center in the Philippines that is well rounded in the cloture there.

The Philippines is a great place to look if you are looking to save money and not have to worry about hiring employees that you have to worry about.

The Us is another story because its only about 10 dollars a hour to hire some one that dont mean that its a bad idea to outsource it but in Austrial you savings is huge.

Life of a Call Center Agent

By admin On September 9, 2008 7 Comments

Everyone is off to bed, but not me, i actually just got out of the shower, getting ready for work. While everyone else calls it a day, i am just starting mine. This is how it is when you work in the call center. I still remember my days as a call center agent, and yes, it was my first time working the night shift and it was hard. I was used to working in the morning before i entered the call center industry and it was really not easy adjusting my body clock to what i call US standards. I didnt have a car that time so I had to take a bus going to work,(I was just a trainee that time with only training allowance so getting a cab was out of the question). On a good note, working nightshift has its advantages, mainly, travel time is shorter because there is less if not zero traffic. You also avoid the rush hours so goint to work and coming home is really a breeze.

While at work, I was amazed on how much coffee and energy drinks were consumed by the agents there I was doing outbound telemarketing that time so when we get on the phone, our supervisor does whatever she can to pump us up and keep the energy flowing while we were trying to get as many sales as we can. Background music, encouraging words and even a few bits of sweets here and there.Anything that would keep you up during the whole shift.

After the shift, some would get ready to go home, but some have other plans to end the day. That was where i first experienced drinking beer instead of coffee at 7am in the morning and this was not unusual for people that works in the call center. After a couple of bottles, I was ready to to go home, its still early so getting a ride home was easy. Ending my day and looking forward to a new day tonight.

That how my call center agent life was, there are some excitements and challenges in between but all in all, it was a great experience.Whenever i see or talk to somebody who is new in the call center, I cant help but see myself in them and I always tell them, ‘you still have a long way to go’, but don’t worry, the reward is well worth the journey.

Philippines call centers becoming

By beau On September 7, 2008 1 Comment

The Philippines is becoming the number one place to outsource and India is now threatened.

Allot of call centers from the Philippines are being bought out by call centers in India and I think the reason is because they fill scared that in the next couple of years that the Philippines will pass India because of the better service and english.

In time you are going to see all the call centers in the Philippines owed by India because they are concerned that the day might come where no one will ever want to outsouce there.

Provincial Call Centers

By admin On September 4, 2008 6 Comments

First there was Makati, then Ortigas Center, then Libis, Alabang, Quezon City and now the provinces. Call Centers in the Philippines are just popping out like mushrooms, and during this growth, a lot of investors are now diverting their attentions to provinces to build their call center. At first, that may seem strange and impractical simply for the fact that building a call center in the province is something unheard of. I still remember the first time I told my folks that i was working in a call center, all of them had the same reaction.. dumbfounded, they don’t know what a call center is, and after all my efforts of trying to explain it to them in the simplest way that i can, they all came to the conclusion that i was a telephone operator. So its just shows how new the concept of the call center is to the people in the province back then. But now, you may be surprised on how many call centers are now operating from the provinces, and why wouldn’t they? If you take a close look at it, there is a lot of benefits in running a center from the province, first is operating cost, we all know that office spaces or rentals in the province is much cheaper compared to Manila, you could probably get up to fifty percent savings on office rental. Then provincial rate of salary is lower than that of Manila. If you are worried about the supply of manpower, keep in mind that forty to fifty percent of the applicants that are coming to Manila are actually from the provinces, imagine how attractive your company will be to them because instead of coming to the city for a job, you are there to give it them. You also don’t have to worry about other utilities like ISP provider, Electric, etc. you will definitely get it there.

Now, if you really want to maximize all of this, there is another key thing that you need to learn, and that is VoIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol. This will eliminate the needs for expensive equipments and long set ups. It will cut your cost dramatically without sacrificing efficiency and quality. Its saving money without cutting corners. I actually have first hand experience working with companies that uses VoIP technology and I would have to say that they are great. It can do whatever you need your telephony to do without the ridiculous cost.

I wouldnt be surprised if i see a call center being built in my province anytime soon.

Call Center Buffet…. A smorgas board of job opportunities

By admin On September 4, 2008 1 Comment

“Hiring, Outbound Call Center Agents” “We are looking for Inbound Call Center Agents” “Start a better career now, apply for our CSR positions” just some of the recruitment ads that you would see almost everywhere, May it be in the newspapers, billboards, banners and flyers. Call centers are always on the prowl to look for new blood to support the huge need for call center staffs. And their effort is never in vain, because day by day, more and more applicants are being drawn in the call center industry. From fresh graduates, to people who decided to leave their practiced craft and move to the so called ‘sunshine industry of our country’ the world of the call center.

Why? Simple.., career opportunities and I mean lots of them. Call centers provide a lot of position for aspiring candidates, from entry level agents to managerial positions. There is also an equal battleground for candidates since most call centers don’t require a bachelor’s degree for entry level positions. Don’t get the wrong idea that it’s easy to be hired though because the hiring process is strict and tedious, they only want the best, and since you will be competing with other applicants, some are fresh grads, some already had call center experiences, competition will be tough. So make sure that you arm yourself with the right skills, and of course the right attitude.
